About Our District Choosing Mounds View Public Schools By Superintendent Dr. Janet L. Witthuhn
January 3, 2006
During the first months of the new year, many families will turn their attention to school choices for their children. As they do, I hope the Mounds View District’s schools are on our parents’ shopping list.
Why should families choose Mounds View Public Schools?
Top 10 Mounds View Public Schools is a district that has earned a reputation for consistently ranking among the 10 highest-performing districts in the state. Our district’s performance also matches the performance of area private schools, yet we offer the value associated with attending a public school.
More choices Our school district offers more choices of challenging academics, competitive athletics and award-winning arts activities than are available at neighboring districts and area private schools. In our schools, students have countless opportunities to pursue their varied areas of interest.
Personalized attention Mounds View teachers organize classes into smaller sizes during parts of each day to personalize their instruction to target student growth towards a particular goal. Our staff members also provide critical support services to meet the individual needs of students.
Respectful behavior Mounds View Public Schools offers every student a healthy, safe and respectful learning environment. Students are treated fairly and with respect by teachers and other students. Codes of conduct in each school require respectful behavior from every student both inside and outside the classroom.
Enrollment Information Nights A great way to learn more about Mounds View Public Schools is to attend one of the Enrollment Information Nights, held at each school in January. Enrollment Information Nights will be held at the high schools on January 9. Irondale High School will welcome families at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. while Mounds View High School will host their event at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The middle schools will hold their Enrollment Information Night on January 10, at 7 p.m., and the elementary schools will open their doors on January 12, at 6:30 p.m.
As always, we encourage all of our district’s school-aged residents to consider joining our school communities. And as space allows, we will again welcome applications for enrollment from non-resident students as well.
We’re proud of our schools and all they have to offer students. I encourage you to tour a school and explore the curriculum. Visit with current parents and students. Meet the principal and teachers, and get answers to your questions. In any way possible, I hope you can discover some of the many opportunities Mounds View Public Schools has to offer.
