About Our District A resolution for the new year January 2, 2008 I was recently asked to write a New Year’s Resolution for a local community newspaper. I’d like to share it with you on this first day of school for 2008. I’ve been reading a very inspiring book on education reform and collaborative leadership called Breakthrough, by Michael Fullan, Peter Hill and Carmel Crevola. The book has reminded me of an African proverb that says, “If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” Looking ahead to this new year, I plan to keep that proverb fresh in my mind, and I hope to model that philosophy in Mounds View Public Schools. Our students and schools indeed are going far because we are working together. I want to thank our community for helping make my first months as superintendent a smooth transition, and I wish our students, families, staff and residents a healthy and safe new year. With their continued support, all of our students will continue to go far. |
