About Our District Think Summer February 4, 2008 After enduring too many weeks with sub-zero wind chills, I’m looking forward to warmer days ahead -- and I know that I’m not alone. Every year about this time, our families turn some of their attention towards summer plans by filling their calendars with swimming lessons, summer camps and family reunions. Maybe it’s a mental attempt to escape the cold . . . but regardless of the motive, it’s a good idea to look ahead now before the best opportunities for summer fun are gone. This week, residents should watch their mailboxes for a great summer enrichment opportunity available through Mounds View Public Schools. Now in its fourth year, Super Summer is a fun enrichment program for students who will be entering grades 2- 8. Families can choose from courses like African drumming, book writing and illustrating, art and world cultures – all new Super Summer programs that I expect will fill up fast. So while the District’s “Super Summer” won’t kick off until June 16, the time to register is now. I encourage residents and non-residents to take advantage of early registration for Super Summer. Download a brochure now available at www.moundsviewschools.org/news.asp?docID=1494. Planning beyond the summer months? You can also download the District’s recently approved 2008-09 school calendar at www.moundsviewschools.org/calendars.asp. Stay warm! |
