About Our District Mounds View following beef recall guidelines February 6, 2008 You might have seen media stories recently about a beef recall affecting more than 700 schools, including Mounds View Public Schools. I want to reassure you that all of our schools are following the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s request to place a hold on the beef. It is not being served in our schools and will not be served unless or until the USDA gives us permission or further directions, which could come in the next two weeks. Some other important facts about this recall: * The USDA says there is no immediate health risk from the meat. * The state says no illnesses have been reported from this beef. * The beef in question comes from a company accused of abusing sick animals and unsafe handling practices. If you have any questions about our school lunch program, feel free to contact Debbie Harrod, Nutrition Services Manager, at 651-639-6011. |
