About Our District Safe schools, respectful students

What should a school feel like?
At Mounds View Public Schools, we want our buildings to feel safe, friendly and welcoming for all of our students and staff. That’s why we direct so many efforts towards providing a healthy environment in all of our schools. For some great examples of our work, please read the spring issue of School Talk, our district’s newsletter, which will be hitting your mailboxes soon.
I’m pleased whenever parents tell me their students feel welcomed in our schools, but I’m not surprised. There’s a reason our district attracts 80 percent of all possible students from our communities. I think a large part of that is the positive and respectful environment we provide.
This week, I invite our residents and our school communities to give us some feedback on this environment. Please take our 7-minute Survey on our district’s current climate. Visit our home page at www.moundsviewschools.org or click here. When you’re done taking the survey, I encourage you to join our digital discussion on this topic in our Chalkboard Chatroom. Visitors are invited to post examples of ways Mounds View provides a healthy, safe and positive environment, as well as suggestions for ways we can make improvements. After the Chalkboard Chatroom closes, my Cabinet group and I will identify and review major themes from the comments and incorporate the themes into our short-term and long-term strategic planning.
We probably sound like broken records when we say it, but it really is true. Our first priority is keeping all of our students and staff safe. It’s a goal our schools take very seriously.
