About Our District
Summer School Talk in the mail this week

July 15, 2008

If you’re like me, summer is a time filled with outdoor activities, friends and family fun. It’s also the time of year when the District transitions from the last school year into the next by reflecting on past issues and accomplishments and developing plans for the upcoming school year.

In my first year as superintendent, one of my goals was to spend a lot of time listening to our community members. And now that the school year is over, I’d like to share with you some of the feedback I gathered, as well as highlight the District’s plans to incorporate your thoughts and suggestions in plans for the upcoming school year and beyond. Residents, watch your mailbox this week for the summer issue of School Talk, our district’s newsletter. Inside this issue, you’ll learn more about how your feedback is sparking improvement plans, and you’ll get a sneak peak at exciting initiatives planned for 2008-2010 including:

    • World Languages in middle and elementary schools in 2009-10
    • Personal learning plans for middle and high school students in 2008-09
    • Greater energy savings by partnering with a national program in 2008-09
    • An integration collaboration partnership with other school districts in 2009-10

Thanks for helping make this a rewarding and successful year for me, for our schools and most importantly, for our students. I encourage you to stay involved and informed as we proceed with these projects and more in years to come.
