About Our District
Everyone’s schools

November 20, 2008

Throughout our metro area, most school districts share at least one common reality: a vast majority of our resident populations have no school-aged children at home. Within the Mounds View Public Schools boundaries alone, some 80 percent of residents don’t have school-aged children. Yet I think 100 percent of District residents have a connection to our schools.

The fall issue of School Talk, our District newsletter, takes a closer look at how our schools are shared by the entire community and provides 10 reasons why 100 percent of residents should care about Mounds View Public Schools.

Consider the following 10 reasons residents should care about Mounds View Public Schools:

1.       The Mounds View School District is one of the largest employers in the area.

2.       School facilities are resources that belong to – and are available for – all neighbors.

3.       Our Top 10 reputation among metro districts creates high-demand housing.

4.       Community Education programs serve residents of all ages.

5.       Mounds View’s schools are a chief source of civic pride and represent the heart of our community’s identity.

6.       Your tax dollars support the schools, making all residents stakeholders in our success.

7.       Mounds View is preparing a well-educated, culturally literate and community-minded future workforce (not to mention, your future neighbors).

8.       Schools’ demographics accurately reflect the truest diversity and signal our communities’ future composition.

9.       After school hours, District-sponsored activities keep the communities’ kids involved in a positive and productive manner.

10.   Irondale and Mounds View alumni are everywhere.
