Irondale names new principal

June 2, 2009 -- Earlier today, I announced to the staff of Irondale High School that a new principal has been selected for Irondale, effective July 1. Scott Gengler will succeed Colleen Wambach, who is retiring at the end of this school year. Later this week, Irondale families will receive a letter with this important news as well.

About Scott Gengler
Scott is an award-winning high school principal who will bring considerable administrative experience and exceptional enthusiasm as he joins Irondale. For the past eight years, he was serving as principal of Watertown-Mayer High School in Watertown, Minn. Prior to that role, he was an associate administrator for three years at Minnehaha Academy in Minneapolis. Scott also has served as a health teacher, physical education instructor and coach at Minnehaha Academy and at Pequot Lakes High School. He holds education graduate degrees from the University of St. Thomas and an undergraduate degree from Bemidji State University. Scott and his wife, Lori, currently live in Victoria with their two children Lydia (6) and Brooks (3).

As you may know, our search for a new principal involved a committee of parents, staff members and Building Instructional Leadership Team members. Throughout this process, the Irondale community clearly expressed an interest in finding a candidate committed to maintaining their progress. Scott distinguished himself with his desire to lead an established and innovative metro-area high school, his background in curriculum and instruction and his experience in developing healthy, safe and respectful school environments. I know Scott is committed to maintaining the progress Irondale has made while working to continuously improve achievement for all students.

Please join me in welcoming him to the Irondale team.
