About Our District Familiar face joins Highview as principal June 8, 2009 -- This morning, I visited the Highview Middle School staff to announce a familiar face would be joining the school as principal effective July 1. Heather Timmons, Highview's Dean of Students, will succeed Mona Fadness. Mona is transferring to Chippewa Middle School to replace principal Sheila Eller who is returning to Virginia at the end of this school year. About Heather Timmons Heather has served Highview as Dean of Students for five years and was instrumental in designing and executing a variety of behavior management and school respect programs. She also was a Highview classroom teacher for four years and principal of Mounds View's Elementary Targeted Services summer school program for several years. She holds education graduate degrees from the University of St. Thomas and from Saint Mary's University. She earned her undergraduate education degree from Texas A & M University in Commerce. Heather and her husband, Brad, live in Hugo with their two children, Zoe (3) and Maverick (2). Our search for a new principal involved a committee of parents, staff members and Building Instructional Leadership Team members. Heather's deep knowledge of the Highview community and her student-centered focus helped distinguish her among three other very qualified and exceptional finalists for the position. She has all the energy and experience necessary to continue the solid legacy of leadership established at Highview, and she clearly is well-respected by her students and colleagues. Later this week, Highview families will receive a letter with this important news as well. In the meantime, please join me in welcoming Heather as she prepares to take on a new and well-earned role at Highview. |
