The Joint Policy Committee presented two calendar options that were adopted at the January 13 Board meeting based on the possibility that the legislature might change the law that prohibits schools from beginning the school year before Labor Day. On March 9, the Minnesota House Finance Committee voted against the proposed legislation that would let schools pick a pre-Labor Day start. At the March 10 School Board meeting, the Board approved the 2009-2010 school year calendar that was presented as “option 1” at the January 13 Board meeting.
