Mounds View Messaging
Last week, Mounds View Public Schools introduced Mounds View Messaging – a more efficient and effective method of communicating important news with thousands of families in just minutes. With the push of a button, school principals and District office officials will send recorded voice messages to parents alerting them to the latest information. Once a message is recorded and sent, most families will receive the call within about 20 minutes. To view a list of frequently asked questions about this new communication service, visit http://www.moundsviewschools.org/news.asp?docID=1446.

Keeping the levy’s promises

Like most districts, Mounds View now relies on referendum levies to help pay for basic educational expenses. After approving last fall’s levy referendum request, voters in the District were not asked to approve any additional levy requests on the ballot this fall. As promised, the District has used levy dollars to keep class sizes in check, programs in place and increased the fund balance to help offset reductions anticipated in fiscal year 2008-2009. To view the impact of the levy on this school year, visit http://www.moundsviewschools.org/pdf07/levyimpact07.pdf.

Say ‘yes’ to no

Walsh will speak at the Resource Fair at Mounds View High School on November 27 from 7 – 9 p.m. The Resource Fair will be open from 6:30 – 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

New fees for facilities
At the recommendation of the Community Usage Cost Study Task Force, the Board in October approved a new few structure for the community’s use of District facilities. A District resident youth rate will be initiated January 1, 2008, and would be in effect for 18 months, with increases July 1, 2009. The District’s resident adult rate will be adjusted to reflect actual operational costs. To review the approved fee structure, visit the “Reserving Facilities” web page at www.moundsviewschools.org.
