Principal moves Chippewa Middle School principal Sheila Eller (at far left), has announced that she will be moving back to live with her husband in Virginia, and will be leaving the Chippewa community at the end of this school year. "Leaving us was a very difficult decision for her," said Superintendent Dan Hoverman. "She's a talented educator and administrator who will be missed, and we wish her all the best."
To replace Eller, Highview's principal Dr. Mona Fadness has accepted a transfer to Chippewa, effective July 1. Fadness has been a middle school educator for more than 25 years, and has been serving as principal of Highview Middle School in New Brighton for the last 12 years. "Mona leaves Highview in an excellent position for the next principal to continue her legacy of solid leadership," said Hoverman. The Highview principal position vacancy is posted and will run through Friday, May 29. Interviews with selected candidates will be targeted to take place the first week in June. The new principal is expected to be named by the week of June 15 with a start date of July 1, 2009.

Safe schools/Healthy students survey Mounds View Public Schools recently received a grant from the U.S. Department of Education called Safe Schools/Healthy Students. This grant funds programs that help create a positive, healthy environment in our schools. The grant is shared with Districts 621, 622, 623 and 624 through the Suburban Ramsey Family Collaborative (SRFC). To help us evaluate the grant, all 4th-, 7th-, 9th- and 11th-graders are being asked to complete a brief survey about their school. Their answers will be anonymous. A summary of survey results will be shared with you at the beginning of next year, along with updates about the grant. Parents are invited to take a brief, anonymous online survey as well. To take the survey please click here. If you have any questions about the survey, please contact Amanda Little, Safe Schools/Healthy Students Coordinator at 651-621-7477 or amanda.little@moundsviewschools.org.
